Take a look!We have some pretty outstanding growth in photography 1 this semester. Students have learned how to fully operate their cameras in manual mode, they've learned the language of composition, they've learned how to create amazing edits in photoshop, and their creative voices are getting stronger every day. Take a look at some of the amazing work that has been done the past couple of months! Learning Manual ModeStudents are learning how to produce images that they fully control by manipulating their DSLR cameras. For the last two weeks, we have been learning about aperture and shutter speed. By next week, they will be fully in manual mode with their cameras! We've had a great time experimenting with depth of field and shutter speed. So I wanted to show you all some favorites from a recent activity we did in class. Students held their cameras, spun around in a circle, and took selfies. This helped them see in real time how shutter speed controls motion and movement in their photos! And the images themselves are pretty fun :) Check it out!
Double ExposuresDo you remember the days of film? The grainy, nostalgic, prints hold a really special place in my heart! And that's what inspired this next photoshop project. Here are some amazing student examples for your enjoyment! Click on the photos to see the full effect :)
Learning how a camera reads lightWow! We just wrapped up our first unit, learning how a camera works. How it reads light. The different parts and how they all work together. WITHOUT EVER TOUCHING a DSLR manual mode camera! That's no small feat, my friends. Congratulations. I wanted to give two students in particular a big shout out for their ingenious approaches to our final project for Unit 1. Eliza made a video while ALSO making cake pops. Explaining her approach the whole way. Check it out! And Debbie made an in depth Comic Strip. Telling a story the whole way. Very impressive!
