We are diving into still life today, but with a twist. To begin, Still Life Photography is: a genre of photography used for the depiction of inanimate subject matter, typically a small group of objects.
Instead of using just flowers and fruit, we are going to attempt to depict our worst anxieties. It's a fun, chill, creative day here in photo 1 - be creative!

Today we are briefly diving into ABSTRACT photography. To define it, abstract photography is non-objective and experimental. It is a way to depict a visual image that does not have an immediate association with the real world. In essence, it's making real things look real strange and fantastic. We are starting our last big project of the Photography Types Unit today. Check out the description below, it's due on Friday: Start with this Photo Essay Planning Guide first: Welcome to Photo Essay Week! Today we are getting started by creating a quick photo essay that attempts to answer this question: What role do Cell Phones play in our lives? Is it good? Is it bad? Is it something else?
Use these as a starting point: WHAT YOU NEED TO DO: 1. Create 30 photos that answer the question above 2. Upload your 10 best photos to a new folder called "Photo Essay" 3. Label each file "cell phone 1", "cell phone 2" ... etc 4. Create a new google doc and answer this question: What were you thinking about when creating this photo essay? p.s. a photo essay is a set or series of photographs that are made to create a series of emotions in the viewer. HOW YOU'LL BE GRADED: 15 points = Excellent work. Above and beyond! 10 points = Completed the assignment and followed instructions. Showed creativity. 5 points = Completed the assignment 1 point = Incomplete Today we're going to play a game, practicing our skills of taking pictures without being noticed like we're on the street. Here's how it'll work:
1. Grab your camera 2. Meet me in the commons 3. Wear your camera around your neck or keep it low 4. Start interacting with your peers, as you do try to capture someone without them noticing. If they make eye contact with you OR your lens, you have to delete that photo! 5. The person with the most photos at the end of 5 minutes wins! Then, we are going to practice some Photoshopping by pasting a subject into an urban street of choice from google images. It's a fun Friday, people! Today's agenda:
